I bought a house a few weeks ago. It was the right thing to do, we were tired of renting and were ready for our own place. But we live in an expensive area (Metro DC) and don't have super fancy jobs so we got a big house (relatively) that needs work.
So far we've pulled out all of the carpet, completely disassembled the bathroom, and decided to move the kitchen. We need to move in by the end of the month, mind you.
All we need to do to be move in ready is reassemble the bathroom and the kitchen and refinish the floors, no biggie right? Except we're doing most of that ourselves, with support from our extended families, who all live 3 hours away and have been more than generous with their time so far but do not have infinite availability.
I'm swinging between hyperventilating and being sure that it'll all get done and be fabulous.
I'm going to post some project pics as they happen in here, I figure some of you own or semi-own some property that you've done work to or want to show off? If you don't then holy shit man, try to buy a house you can move right into, I am confident that it would be much easier than what we've decided to do.
