So the kids these days, they've gotten into this little thing we like to call streaming. Video games aren't enough to keep their warped brains engaged anymore. Now to get their fix, they're watching other people play games. Sometimes from their own gaming consoles, even. And they they turn around and make other people watch THEM play games. It's a deep, dark abyss. Systematically swallowing our youth. Spreading the evil of gaming. We face a global crisis.
There's a place so depraved, so overpopulated with what we now call "streamers", that it simply can't be contained. It can't be stopped. We call it

Twitch has a stranglehold on the streaming community. Everyone who's anyone is on Twitch these days. Mostly. If you know someone who has lost their life to the seductive desire to scream obscenities at Solid Snake at four in the morning, they probably have a Twitch account.
So how do these lost souls stream to Twitch? Well, that depends on what they're streaming from.
PC gamers have a variety of software they can run in the background, safely hidden from prying eyes. What you might want, and what would work for you, might require some research, if you dare. Recently, the digital gamefront Steam has introduced the ability to stream gameplay to Twitch as well, offering a simple and easy way to hook your friends.
Sony's Playstation 4, and Microsoft's Xbox One, both have their own suite of video recording and streaming tools, allowing direct connections to Twitch. Though lacking in features and limited in length and quality, they provide console gamers a very acceptable way to jump into this new and scary world.
Another option is to buy specific hardware. This can be expensive, depending on what you're looking for. But it's the only way you're going to stream from other kinds of consoles, and they tend to do the job better than the PS4/One. While Sony, MS, or Steam might give you your first hit, soon you might find yourself with no money left to eat, because you just had to have that Elgato Game Capture HD60.
But Twitch isn't the only game in town! There's also

Just kidding, no one cares about Ustream.
Also I guess you can stream to Youtube? I dunno that seems weird.
No matter where you stream, please, do so in moderation. And never stream and drive.

Welcome to the streaming thread! This is a place where we can talk about our adventures in recording ourselves failing at video games and trying hard to be interesting.
If you want to talk about streaming/recording hardware and software, this is the place to do it!
Stumble across a really cool channel and want to tell us about it? What are you waiting for?!
And lastly, I thought it would be really nice to have a place where we can go to find fellow PA community members' stuff. If you have a Twitch channel or whatever, tell me! I'll keep a list going in the OP. If you don't livestream but make Let's Plays or anything along those lines, give me your Youtube channel or wherever else you might be keeping them, and I'll keep track of those, too.
It should go without saying that you shouldn't talk about any kind of illegal recording and stuff. But I'm gonna say it anyway. Don't do it!
